Regina Houses For Sale

Regina is the capital city of the province of Saskatchewan. A recent census estimated that around 180,000 people call Regina home, although that number is growing. The original name for the Regina location was “pile-of-bones,” and the city was established as a result of Canadian Pacific Railway passing through it. It exists today as the economic center-point of the province, and enjoys a large endowment of natural resources including oil & Gas.

 

Despite its slight remoteness, Regina is as city with an active culture. Home to the University of Regina (founded in 1976) where students from all over the world come to study. There are also numerous museums and cultural exhibits such as those represented in the The Royal Saskatchewan Museum, The RCMP Museum, and the Saskatchewan Science Centre. These institutions serve to supplement the higher learning that many residents of Regina enjoy.

 

Regina is also a city known for its close-knit sense of a community, a sense that is bolstered by the city’s many sports programs, including the CFL’s Saskacthewan Roughriders, the WHL’s Regina Pats, and U of R’s Rams Football Club.

 

Real estate in Regina remains extremely affordable, despite the commercial and financial opportunities that city life offers. There are communities, even neighborhoods close to downtown such as Washington Park, where housing can be procured for a fraction of the cost of living in one of Canada’s larger urban centres such as Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto. Larger homes in areas near Wascana Lake and Windsor Park can be bought for around $300,000 in some cases, though they are essentially estate properties.

 

No matter where you live in Regina, you’ll have access to the city’s many parks and greenspaces. Featuring some of the country’s most meticulously designed outdoor spaces, Regina prides itself on offering its citizens every opportunity to exercise and stay fit.
